Thousands visit Parliament Buildings each year and take part in one of our informative tours. We know that you are not only attracted by the chance to soak in the magnificent architecture and historical significance of the building but also by the prospect of a day out in the Estate.
Thanks to a new section on our website you can now find out exactly what a day on the Estate can offer.
Things to do on the EstateIf you’re keen to get fit and go on an exploration, you’ll enjoy our fitness trails. If it’s a rather more relaxing experience you’re after, you can take in the beautiful scenery and marvel at the outstanding deciduous forestry on one of the woodland walks. If you are interested in the history of Stormont, you will enjoy looking out for some of the statues and sculptures housed within the grounds.
Looking to keep the kids entertained for an afternoon? Why not take them on a picnic to the Mo Mowlam Children’s Park? Afterwards you can take them exploring to see if they can spot the beautiful wildflowers and interesting wildlife that occupy the estate such as the birds and amphibians in the wetland habitat or the red squirrels foraging in the leafy surrounds.
After a great day out enjoying the Estate you can then unwind in style by visiting the Whistles Bar and Restaurant at the Pavilion Complex which is open to all members of the public. Treat yourself to a great meal or simply enjoy some light refreshments on the balcony while overlooking the magnificent grounds. The Pavillion Complex is located by the Upper Newtownards Road end of the estate.
Keep an eye out also for one of the special events that frequently occur in the Estate. From concerts to charity fun runs, Family Fun Days and international cricket matches, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. You can find out what’s going on at Stormont and book your tickets at World Ticket Shop. Those interested in sporting activities can also find out what’s happening at the Pavilion Complex.
So whether you’re exploring the estate on one of our woodland walks or taking the kids on a picnic at the adventure playground, the Stormont Estate is a fantastic and educational day out for all the family.
