The Assembly Committee for the Environment issued a report today on the amended Waste & Contaminated Land Bill. The Bill sets out measures and responsibilities for recycling and for dealing with illegal dumping of waste.
One of the biggest changes to the amended Bill is the extension of powers to local Councils to deal with illegal dumping. Revisions to the Bill will now see local Councils have the same power as the Department of the Environment.
Here, we chat to the Chair of the Committee, Cathal Boylan MLA on what the Committee hopes the review Bill will do.
