Committee Publishes Report on Reservoirs Bill

The Assembly Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development has just published its report on the proposed Reservoirs Bill. The proposed Departmental Bill aims to ensure that local reservoirs exceeding 10,000 cubic metres in volume are managed and operated to safeguard the public and to minimise the risk of flooding.

The Committee report underlines a number of key concerns including the need for an audit on the current condition of reservoirs which will fall under the new legislation and the financial implications the requirements could pose for reservoir owners. The Committee Chairperson told us more about the report and the Committee's findings.
